Where the name comes from

Leaf is an acronym. It stands for Logically Engineered Automation Features, the long form behind the company we started in 2021. Nobody says the long form out loud, so the company is Leaf Automation, and that is how we write it everywhere.

The name was picked in 2021, the year I finished my electrical engineering degree at Case Western Reserve University and started as an electrical designer at an AEC firm. For the next two years I drew construction sets by hand: single-line diagrams, permit sets, solar takeoffs. Every set had the same stretches of work that a person should not have to redo, and Leaf Automation was the side project that turned those stretches into software. In May 2023 it became the full-time job.

Branch, the AutoCAD plugin, came out of that drafting desk. Leaf Automation Studio is the next step: type what you need, and it authors the CAD tool.

The mission has not moved since 2021. I want to accelerate the adoption of time-saving automation capabilities for professionals. Engineers, drafters and estimators lose days to work that a well-built tool finishes in minutes, and most of them never get that tool because nobody builds it for their exact desk. That is the gap Leaf Automation exists to close.
